PDF Upload helps teachers quickly turn existing worksheets, assessments, and practice materials into digital assignments.
Getting Started
Step 1: Open My Books
Navigate to My Books from the bottom-left corner of your screen.
Step 2: Select or Create a Book
Open the Book where you would like the PDF to be stored. You can also click New Book + to create a new Book.
Step 3: Select or Create a Folder
Open the Folder where you would like the PDF to live. You can also click New Folder + to create a new Folder within the Book.
Step 4: Upload Your PDF
Click Upload PDF in the upper-right corner of the screen.
Then:
Click Browse or Choose File.
Select your PDF.
Click Upload.
File Requirements
PDFs must be under 5 MB.
For best results, use clearly formatted documents with readable text.
PDF uploads may take up to three minutes to process. You can safely close the upload window and return later to check the status of the file.

What Magma Automatically Detects
With the latest version of PDF Upload, Magma can automatically:
extract tables
detect question structures
generate answers for straightforward questions
recognize simple numeric and algebraic expressions

Questions That May Require Manual Review
Some questions may still require teacher review or manual answer entry.
This includes:
open-ended responses
proofs and explanations
multi-step reasoning problems
advanced mathematical notation
image-heavy questions
When needed, Magma will prompt you to manually enter or confirm answers to help ensure accuracy.
Review and Edit Uploaded Content
After uploading, we recommend reviewing all exercises before assigning them to students.
You may want to:
add or update answers
adjust formatting
review tables and images
modify question text
check advanced math symbols
update difficulty levels
Edit an Uploaded Exercise
To edit uploaded content:
Click the three dots (...) next to the exercise.
Select Edit Assignment.
Customize or update the exercise as needed.
Click Save when finished.
Tips for Smoother and More Accurate Uploads
Use PDFs with clear, readable text.
Avoid blurry scans or heavily handwritten documents.
Review automatically generated answers before assigning.
Check image-heavy questions and advanced mathematical notation carefully.
