Why Use the Magma Math iPad App?

Using the iPad app helps:

  • assignments using pacing or Safe Mode

  • classroom instruction on shared devices

iPad Requirements

Magma Math requires iOS/iPadOS 15.1 or later.

We recommend keeping both the iPad operating system and the Magma Math app up to date. Students using the latest version of the app will have access to the newest features, performance improvements, and bug fixes.

If your district manages student iPads through an MDM, make sure the latest version of Magma Math is deployed and automatic app updates are enabled.

Deploy the Magma Math App with MDM

Districts using an MDM solution (such as Jamf, Mosyle, or Kandji) can deploy the Magma Math app directly to student devices.

Step 1: Find the App

Search for Magma Math in:

  • the App Store

  • Apple School Manager

Step 2: Add the App to Your MDM

In your MDM platform:

  1. Open app deployment settings.

  2. Add the Magma Math iPad app.

  3. Assign it to the appropriate student devices or groups.

Step 3: Enable Automatic Updates

We recommend enabling automatic updates for the Magma Math app. Keeping the app up to date ensures students have access to the latest features, improvements, and bug fixes.

If your district manages student iPads through an MDM, configure your settings to automatically deploy the latest version of Magma Math when updates become available.

Step 4: Verify Installation

After deployment:

  • confirm the app appears on student iPads

  • verify students can successfully log in

Teachers can quickly verify whether students are using the Magma Math app or a browser.

Correct ✅ Using the App

When students are using the iPad app:

  • no browser address bar or URL appears at the top of the screen

Incorrect ❌ Using a Browser

If students are using Safari or another browser:

  • the browser URL/address bar will be visible at the top of the screen
