When are they available?

They will be available between the 12th January and 6th February

Which DNAs should I set?

There are 3 versions of each assessment:

  • Pathway A: for pupils securely working at expected level for their age and stage.

  • Pathway B: for pupils working below the expected level for their age and who require access to assessment and learning experiences from an earlier level.

  • Pathway C: for pupils who are engaging with learning and assessment beyond the expected level for their age and stage, working consistently within the level above rather than completing isolated extension tasks.

These Pathways sit within the scheduled DNA tests which are done throughout the school year (Test A in Aug/Sept; Test B in Jan/Feb; Test C in May/June). Their purpose is to support teachers in planning appropriate support and challenge for all learners.

Please note: all DNAs currently available are "Test B" (Jan/Feb); the pathways only denote the pupils' working level.

For example, if your P4 pupil is being assessed at their level, you should set them First Level Phase 3 (Pathway A).

If they are being assessed at a lower level, you can set them First Level Phase 2 (Pathway B) or First Level Phase 1 (Pathway B).

If they are being assessed at a higher level, you can set them Second Level Phase 1 (Pathway C).

Where can I find them?

Go to the 'unpublished' section in your assignments

Select the relevant assignment(s), click the 3-dot menu on the right and then 'publish'

If you want to make multiple assessments available, simply click the 'edit' button on the right above the assignments. Check all the relevant ones, then click on 'publish'

They will all be moved over all at once

The assessment will now be visible to pupils, but they still cannot start until you click 'play'.

If you want the whole class to have access, simply hit the 'play' button.

If you want specific pupils to have access, click into the assignment and press play for the relevant pupils

You might want to do this if your class is taking a mixture of pathways, as it will ensure that pupils only have access to the specific assessment that you want them to take.

If you have any questions, please use the little orange button in the bottom right corner and a Magmatician will be happy to answer 😁
