Freeze Pupil Screens

The Freeze feature ensures that you can get pupils’ attention instantly while maintaining classroom control.

Written by Joe Franck

From the heatmap, you can freeze an assignment. All pupils currently working in that assignment will have their screens frozen – perfect when you want everyone's attention.

Pupils cannot interact with anything on their screen while frozen, even if they navigate away from the assignment.

How to use Freeze

1. In the Assignments tab, click the assignment to open the heatmap.

2. Click the snowflake icon (Freeze pupil screens) at the top of the page.

3. Pupils' screens lock immediately. The snowflake turns blue and the pupils' results are marked with ice, so you can see at a glance that the class is frozen.

4. To unfreeze, click the snowflake again (Unfreeze screens). Hover over it to see how much time is left.

If you forget to unfreeze, the freeze lifts automatically after 15 minutes.

Tip: you can also freeze pupil screens from Live Activity, using the snowflake in the top-right corner.

Note: we are also working on showing when a pupil has been frozen in another assignment.
