The Task activity enables participants to complete an assigned task and optionally share a note or reflection about their progress. It's perfect for action-oriented learning moments where you want participants to do something and confirm completion. Participant identity (avatar and color) is always visible on the group canvas.
Note for Creator customers: Task responses can be included in follow-up emails if you add them to your email template.
How to add a Task activity
Click Add activity and select Task from the activity list.
Enter your task description in the text editor. You can include formatted text with headings and bullet points, links to external resources, and clear instructions for what participants should do.
Configure your task options: Include note: Enable this if you want participants to submit a written reflection or note when completing the task. When enabled, participants must provide a note to mark the task complete. Show different text on group canvas and participant device: Enable this to display different content to the facilitator view versus participant devices.
If you enabled notes, customize the text field label to guide participants (default: "Add a note to this task").
Set your timer duration. We recommend 2-5 minutes depending on task complexity.
Optionally add an expert tip audio clip to help facilitators introduce the activity.
When to use the Task activity
Action-based learning: When you want participants to actually do something (e.g., "Open the settings menu and find the accessibility options").
Skill practice: After explaining a concept, have participants practice immediately.
Reflection moments: Use the note feature to capture insights after watching a video or completing a reading.
Accountability checkpoints: Confirm participants have completed pre-work or preparation steps.
Group progress tracking: Visualize who has completed a task in real-time on the group canvas.
