How do I know if my pronunciation is correct?

Updated over 2 weeks ago

One of the best ways to check your pronunciation is to record yourself and compare it to the native speaker audio provided in the Pronunciation Mastery course. Don’t worry if it sounds off at first. Learning pronunciation is like going to the gym. You wouldn’t expect to lift 100kg without training, and your mouth muscles need time and repetition to develop strength and precision.

Mandarin has about 420 unique syllables, and roughly 1,200 sound combinations when tones are included. Around 500 of these sounds don’t exist in English, so some will feel unfamiliar at first. With regular practice, they become second nature. The good news is your mouth muscles are small, so they adapt relatively quickly compared to something like your biceps.

Once you dive into the Blueprint, you’ll get consistent pronunciation exposure. Every character, word, and sentence you learn comes with native audio, so you’re always reinforcing the correct sounds.

We highly recommend enrolling in our Pronunciation Practice Toolkit ( If you haven't already. It’s a structured course designed to serve as your pronunciation coach, with loads of targeted drills and exercises to help you build strong, accurate pronunciation from the ground up.

If you want even more personalized feedback, you can also consider working with a tutor to test and refine your pronunciation.
