Export backlinks from LinkMiner

LinkMiner has two ways to export.

Written by Dev + MKT

LinkMiner has two ways to export. Export under the backlinks table saves the backlinks you have already loaded as a CSV file, and uses nothing more from your plan. The Export page in the top menu makes a bulk export: a file of up to 50,000 backlinks for a domain or URL. It emails you a download link and uses backlink rows.

A bulk export is filtered unless you change it

On LinkMiner's Export page, a filter switches on as soon as the export types for your domain or URL appear. It keeps only:

  • one link per referring domain,

  • active links (no deleted ones),

  • DoFollow links (no NoFollow ones).

So the file can hold far fewer backlinks than the export type shows. Next to Filter, three blue labels show what is set: Links per domain, Link rel and Link status.

To export every backlink, switch off the toggle on the Filter button before you start. To keep some of the filter, select Filter and change it:

  1. For Link rel, choose All to include NoFollow links.

  2. For Link status, choose All to include deleted links.

  3. For Links per domain, enter 0 or leave it empty to include every link from each domain.

  4. Select Set filter.

Reset in the filter goes back to the same three settings, not to an empty filter.

The LinkMiner Create new export form with Export links for, the Filter toggle on and the Links per domain, Link rel and Link status labels, the Export type options, the Maximum export size slider and the Start processing button.

Export the backlinks in the table

  1. Run a search in LinkMiner and load the backlinks you want. Each Load more adds 500.

  2. Set any filters and sorting. The file follows them.

  3. Select Export under the table.

  4. Choose Export to CSV. LinkMiner shows "Backlinks were successfully exported."

The CSV file is named linkminer_ followed by the address you searched. It has one row per backlink, with the URL, title, target URL, anchor and every metric from the table. Seven more columns hold true or false for each label, such as Deleted and NoFollow.

Copy to clipboard in the same menu copies only the source URLs, one per line.

The file is built in your browser from loaded backlinks, so it uses no backlink rows beyond the ones the search already used. A favorites list exports the same way: open the list, then use Export. To open the file in Excel, see Export keywords and open the file in Excel.

Export a whole domain with a bulk export

  1. Select Export in LinkMiner's top menu.

  2. Under Export links for, type a domain or URL.

  3. Check the filter, as described above.

  4. Under Export type, check the option LinkMiner selected, or choose another. Depending on the address, the options are Domain (the domain and all its subdomains), Sub domain and Exact URL. There can be one Exact URL for the https version and one for http. Each option shows how many backlinks it has, or "> 50k backlinks" for 50,000 or more.

  5. Under Maximum export size, set the slider. Its maximum is the lowest of three numbers: the backlinks in the export type, your remaining backlink rows, and 50,000. When that maximum is over 25,000, the slider starts at half of it.

  6. Select Start processing.

A path with an asterisk, such as example.com/blog/*, is not an export type. If LinkMiner says "Domain not found", check the address and try again. For more than 50,000 backlinks in one file, see Custom plans and custom data exports.

What an export uses from your plan

A bulk export uses backlink rows for the full size you choose on the slider, not for the number of backlinks in the file. Typing an address to see the export types uses none. Under the slider, the page shows the size you chose, for example "Exporting up to 1,000 backlinks". It also shows how many backlinks you will have left after the export. Choose a size no larger than you need.

Sometimes the export type has more backlinks than you have rows left. The slider then stops at your remaining rows. When fewer than 100 backlink rows are left, the Export page shows "You have spent all your lookups. Please upgrade, or wait for the counters to reset." in place of the form.

Backlink rows reset monthly. Basic includes 100,000 backlink rows per month, Premium 500,000 and Agency 1,200,000. See How lookups and limits work, and when they reset.

When the export file is ready

After Start processing, LinkMiner shows "Exporting has started". The message gives an estimate of about 5 minutes for an export type with up to 1,000 backlinks, and 30 minutes for a larger one. The times are fixed estimates. The real time can be shorter or longer.

When the file is ready, we email a download link to your account's email address. The same file is in Your export history on the Export page, which updates on its own:

  • Waiting or Processing: the file is not ready yet.

  • Download: select it to download the file.

  • Download expired: the link no longer works. Select Clone export on that row to fill in the same settings, then start a new export. A new export uses backlink rows again.

Messages during a bulk export

  • "Sorry, there was an error with our 3rd party API provider.": this can mean the data source failed, or that you have reached a limit of your plan. Check Backlink rows in the account menu. If rows are left, try again later, then contact us through the live chat or at info@mangools.com.

  • "Sorry, you exceeded maximum allowed API requests per second.": wait a moment and try again.

If your backlink rows ran out, see Out of limits? Your options.
