Usually markers and regions are separate elements on the maps, not having interactions between themselves. However there are cases where it might be useful to show the connection from a marker to a specific region. In particular, when hovering a marker, triggering the hover effect on a region or multiple regions might be useful.

Since version 1.5.5 it’s possible to explore this in an experimental feature. Currently it’s only possible to do this with round markers.

To use this, first you’ll need to enable the experimental features for Markers in Settings > Map Features > Map Tabs & Features > Highlight Regions (Experimental Feature).

After you enable this option in the settings, when you create your map, in the markers tab, you’ll be able to enable this extra option:

You will still need to add the regions you plan to highlight in the regions tab:

Once you have all your regions, you can go and add your markers. The way to connect the markers to the existing regions is to define their codes in the value field of the marker:

Following these steps should allow you to explore this feature. The markers can still have a click action.
