What does my listing grade mean?

Use the checks to spot something worth improving.

Written by Richie Peplin

Your Marmalead grade helps you find possible gaps in a listing's wording. It is Marmalead's check, not a grade from Etsy or a promise of sales.

Look behind the letter

Open My Listings, choose an item and read the individual checks.

Start with something easy to judge:

  • Is the product name clear?

  • Is a tag inaccurate or misspelled?

  • Is there an unused tag slot and another useful phrase to add?

Choose one change that helps describe the item. Boost SEO can suggest wording if you need a starting point.

Keep words that belong

“Ceramic mug” and “blue mug” can both fit the same product. Repeated words aren't automatically a problem. Don't remove an important detail just to improve a letter.

If a listing is clear and selling well, a lower grade alone is no reason to rewrite it. Photos, price and delivery matter to buyers, too.
