When reinstatement is possible
We may be able to reinstate your policy if your annual renewal payment failed and:
Your policy expired less than 5 days ago, and
You’ve now successfully made the annual payment.
Example:
If your policy expired at 11:59pm on 1st June, you must pay by 11:59pm on 6th June for us to reinstate it
When reinstatement isn’t possible
We cannot reinstate your policy if:
You try to pay more than 5 days after the expiry date, unless there was an agent error.
You did not intend to renew and are now trying to reinstate.
You were involved in an accident or made a claim while your policy was expired.
What happens if you contact us before your renewal date
If you reach out before your policy expires, we may be able to:
Re-enable auto-renewal, and
Charge your card on file (with your permission)
This avoids the policy expiring in the first place.
What to expect if your policy is eligible for reinstatement
We’ll ask if you made any claims or had any accidents while uninsured.
If not, we’ll:
Send you a new invoice.
Check that the payment was received before the 5-day deadline.
If payment is made in time:
We’ll confirm reinstatement.
If payment is not made by the deadline:
We’ll confirm that the policy cannot be reinstated.
If reinstatement isn’t possible
You can still get cover with Marshmallow by purchasing a new policy. We’ll guide you through this process if needed.
