Renewing your MultiCar policy group

Learn how renewals work for MultiCar, how to make updates, and what happens if you turn off auto-renew.

When and how MultiCar renews

All policies within a MultiCar group renew on the same date, set by the Account Holder’s original policy. This means that:

  • Each individual policy in the group will renew together

  • You’ll receive a combined renewal notification by email at least 14 days before the renewal date

  • The Account Holder is responsible for managing the renewal for the entire group.

What’s included in your renewal notice

Your renewal email will contain:

  • Renewal prices for each policy in the group

  • Total cost if paying annually or monthly

  • Policy documents for each insured vehicle

  • Instructions on how to turn off auto-renew if needed

Can I make changes during the renewal window?

No — once you enter the 14-day renewal window, you cannot make changes to your policies or MultiCar group until after the renewal date has passed.

This applies to:

  • Adding or removing a car or driver

  • Changing the plan level

  • Switching from monthly to annual payments (or vice versa)

To make changes:

  • Wait until the policy has renewed

  • Then update your details and request a new quote through the app.

Turning off auto-renew

If the Account Holder turns off auto-renew for their own policy, this affects the entire group.

What happens:

  • All policies in the MultiCar group will expire on the renewal date

  • Policyholders will receive an email notification letting them know

  • Cover ends at 11:59 PM on the last day of the policy

You can turn off auto-renew via:

  • The Marshmallow app under the policy settings

What if a policyholder wants to leave the group?

If a policyholder no longer wants to be insured under the MultiCar group:

  • The Account Holder must expire that policy before the renewal date.

  • If left unchanged, the policy will renew along with the rest of the group.

Once the group has renewed, that policy can be cancelled or updated in line with standard terms and cancellation procedures.

After renewal

Once your MultiCar group has renewed:

  • Your new documents and payment schedule are available in the app and online

  • The new policies are active from 12:00 AM on the renewal date

  • If you need to make changes, you can now do so via the app or by starting a chat
