Understanding your MultiCar payments

Get to know how payments work in MultiCar, including how we charge monthly and annual payers, and what changes after adding a new policy.

Payment types we support

MultiCar supports both monthly instalments and annual payments — but your options depend on when you set up your policy:

  • If your Account Holder policy is paid annually, new policies must also be paid annually

  • If your Account Holder policy is paid monthly, new policies will be added to your monthly instalment plan

We don’t currently allow a mix of monthly and annual payments within the same MultiCar group.

How monthly payments work

If you pay monthly, we combine all your policies into a single monthly invoice. Here’s what to expect:

  • Your original monthly payments continue after group creation

  • The cost of any added policies is split across your remaining instalments

  • You’ll get an updated payment schedule in your app or web account

  • Each month, we charge one payment for all vehicles under the Account Holder’s bank details

Example:

If you had 5 payments left on your main policy and you added a new car, the cost of that car is divided by 5 and added to your next 5 payments.

How annual payments work

If you’re an annual payer:

  • You’ll pay the full cost for each added policy upfront when creating the quote

  • Each added policy will still renew on the Account Holder’s renewal date

  • At renewal, you’ll receive a combined invoice for all policies in the group

We’ll align the price of each new annual policy based on how many days remain until renewal.

Viewing your payment schedule

To see upcoming or past payments:

  • Open the Marshmallow app and tap the Payments tab

You’ll see:

  • Your next payment date and amount

  • A breakdown of what you’re paying for

  • Any updates made to the plan due to changes or cancellations

What if I change my plan or cancel a policy?

When you make a change (e.g. update your address), the system automatically:

  • Recalculates the premium for that policy

  • Spreads any increase or decrease across your remaining payments

  • Sends you an updated payment plan immediately

If you cancel a policy:

  • Your group may continue with the remaining policies

  • Your payment will be adjusted for the next billing cycle

  • Any refund owed will be processed back to your card

Missed payments and failed billing

If your payment fails:

  • We’ll notify you by email and SMS

  • All policies in your MultiCar group are at risk of cancellation

  • You can update your payment method directly in the app
