When a name change is allowed

You can update your name on your policy if:

  • You have changed your name due to marriage or divorce

  • You’ve legally changed your name via deed poll

  • Your name was misspelt or input incorrectly during sign-up

Documents you need

To process your request, we’ll ask for:

  • A valid photo ID (driving licence or passport)

  • A selfie for identity verification

  • One of the following, depending on the reason:

    • Marriage certificate (for name changes after marriage)

    • Decree absolute (for name changes after divorce)

    • Deed poll (for any other legal name changes)

When name changes are not allowed

We cannot update your name to that of a completely different person.

Examples where we cannot update the name:

  • Changing the policyholder from yourself to your partner or friend.

  • Requests without valid proof of legal name change.
