Can I change my policy's start date?

No. Once you’ve set up and purchased a policy with Marshmallow, the start date cannot be changed, even if the policy hasn’t started yet.


What should I do if I chose the wrong start date?

You have two main options:

1. Cancel your current policy and get a new one

  • You can cancel your policy and then generate a new quote with the correct start date.

2. Consider temporary cover if you need insurance before your new policy begins

  • Marshmallow doesn’t offer temporary car insurance.

  • You may want to explore other insurers that provide short-term cover.


What are the cancellation fees?

If you cancel within 14 days of buying:

  • £30 administration fee

If you cancel after 14 days:

The cancellation fee ranges from £60 to £125, depending on:

  • When you purchased your policy

  • The policy plan you selected

To find the exact fee that applies to your policy:

  1. Open the Marshmallow app.

  2. Go to the Documents section.

  3. Select your Policy Wording document.

These fees cover administrative and service costs already incurred.


ID check requirement

If we’ve asked you to complete an ID check, your policy will only start after you successfully complete the check. If you don’t complete it in time, your cover will be delayed.
