Why can't I reinstate my cancelled policy?

This article is for Marshmallow customers who want to undo a cancellation after their policy has ended.

Can I reinstate my cancelled policy?

In most cases, no — once a Marshmallow policy has been cancelled, it cannot be reinstated. This applies whether the cancellation was processed by us or by you.

Why can’t you restart my old policy?

When a policy is cancelled:

  • Your insurance cover ends permanently.

  • All documents and payment schedules are closed.

  • Your vehicle is no longer insured, and no future payments will be taken.

For these reasons, we can’t re-open or reactivate a cancelled policy, even if the cancellation happened by mistake or you contact us shortly after.

Are there any exceptions?

We can only reverse a cancellation in very limited cases:

Same-day reversal (very rare)

If:

  • The cancellation was requested today, and

  • You changed your mind on the same day, and

  • The policy was cancelled by you, not us, and

  • Our customer support team are still available to pick up your chat

Then we may be able to reverse the cancellation only if the “Reverse Cancellation” option is still available in our system.

We cannot reverse the cancellation after this same-day window, even if the policy end date is still in the future.

Cancellations we can never reverse

We cannot reverse your cancellation if:

  • It was processed yesterday or earlier

  • It was issued due to missed payments or arrears unless you paid on the same day

  • A reason required us to cancel your policy.

What should I do if I still need insurance?

If you still need cover, you can take out a new policy through our website:

  1. Enter your vehicle and personal details

  2. Choose the right level of cover for your needs

  3. Receive your documents instantly once payment is complete

If we had to cancel your policy, for example missed payments, it will not be possible for you to purchase a new policy.
