Why didn’t I get a refund after cancelling my policy?

Common Reasons You May Not Receive a Refund

There are several situations where cancelling your policy may not result in a refund:

1. You made a claim during your policy

If you made a claim, even if it has been settled, you are no longer eligible for a refund. In this case:

  • The full premium is still owed.

  • Monthly customers must continue paying remaining instalments.

  • Annual customers will not receive a refund of any unused portion.

2. You still owe us money

If there are any unpaid instalments, outstanding charges, or admin fees, these are deducted from your refund amount. If the charges are greater than the refund, you may not receive anything back — or may still owe a balance.

3. You cancelled after the cooling-off period

After the 14-day cooling-off period, standard admin fees apply:

  • Lightest: £125

  • Essential: £100

  • Original: £75

  • Plus: £60
These fees are deducted from your refund and may reduce it to £0, especially for short-term policies.
