Updated this week

How to Add an Additional Driver

You can add an additional driver directly in the Marshmallow app:

  1. Open the Marshmallow app.

  2. Tap Manage policy.

  3. Tap Update details.

  4. Tap Manage additional drivers.

  5. Follow the prompts to add or remove a driver.

⚠️ You can only add drivers to car insurance policies — this feature is not available for van insurance.

Requirements for Additional Drivers

The driver you want to add must meet all of the following criteria:

  • UK resident

  • Over 21 years old

  • If holding a provisional licence:

    • Must be aged 21–40 when the policy starts, unless they are the only provisional licence holder on the policy — then 40+ is acceptable.

  • Cannot be over 75 years old

  • Must not have had insurance cancelled or refused

We’ll also need:

  • The driver’s full legal name (no nicknames)

Temporary Driver Cover

Yes, we offer temporary cover. Your added driver will be insured for the rest of your policy year. If they only need cover for a shorter period, just contact us again to remove them.

💡 You'll only pay a pro-rata rate, based on the time they’re insured.
