Automatic renewal

If you want to renew your policy, you don’t need to take any action; your policy will automatically renew using the information you’ve previously provided.

You will receive an email from us 14 days before your policy is set to renew. This will let you know if you are eligible to renew your policy and if you are, the exact amount your insurance will cost with us if you do renew.

In terms of your renewal price, there are things that can change over the course of a year so we can't promise that the price will go down, but if you don't have an at-fault claim then your no claims discount will increase.

Renewal payment process

If you paid your premium in a single payment, Marshmallow will charge the card on record one day before your renewal date. If this payment fails, you will receive an invoice via email. You must settle this invoice by your renewal date, and you can use a different card if necessary.

For those opting to pay in monthly instalments, the first payment will be collected on the day of renewal or within the first 14 days following the renewal date. On the renewal date itself, you will receive an email confirming the renewal of your policy. You can view your updated policy documents in your Marshmallow account.

Failed renewal payments

Annual Renewal Payment

If your annual renewal payment fails 24 hours before your policy is set to renew, you will receive an email with a payment link to complete the payment manually. This payment must be made within 24 hours to ensure your policy renews. Marshmallow will not reattempt the payment manually, so failure to pay within this timeframe will result in your policy not renewing and your coverage expiring.

Monthly Renewal Payment

If your monthly renewal payment fails you will have 14 days following the renewal date to clear the payment. You can make the payment from the app by tapping on Manage policy and scrolling to Manage payments.

Common reasons for payment failures include:

  • Expired card

  • Need to update the default card on file

  • Insufficient funds

Not renewing your policy

If you decide not to renew your policy, you can disable the auto-renewal feature.

  1. Tap your policy in the app.

  2. Tap "Update details" at the top of the screen.

  3. Scroll down to "Manage renewal" and follow the instructions.

You may be directed to a customer support agent who will ask you a few questions regarding your decision.

Found a cheaper price?

If you have found a cheaper price elsewhere, please contact our customer support team to discuss this. While Marshmallow cannot guarantee a price match, we are willing to explore if we can offer a better deal.
