When should I get in touch?
You’ll need to contact our Customer Support team if:
You’re the policyholder and now have a full UK driving licence (whether from the UK or converted from an international licence).
You’ve switched from a provisional to a full UK licence.
You’ve moved to the UK and exchanged a licence from a non-designated country.
You can’t update your licence yourself in the Marshmallow app — you must speak to a team member first.
Why do I need to add my UK licence?
Keeping your licence details up to date ensures your insurance remains valid and accurate.
If you’ve passed your test, updating your policy may affect your premium.
In some cases, it can reduce your renewal price, while in others (such as switching from a provisional to a full licence), it may increase.
What information do I need to provide?
When you contact us, please have one of the following ready:
Full UK driving licence – we’ll need your 16-character licence number.
Test pass certificate – if you don’t yet have your physical licence card, you can send clear photos of your certificate.
Additional requirements:
If your licence is from a designated country, you’ll usually only need to provide the licence number.
If it’s from a non-designated country, you must also provide a photo of your licence or pass certificate.
⚠️ Please don’t send any licence images until our team requests them. This protects your privacy and ensures we only ask for what’s needed.
What happens after I submit my licence?
Our team will validate your licence to ensure it matches your policy details.
If everything matches, we’ll update your licence details and re-calculate your policy price.
Your new policy documents will be available in your Marshmallow account shortly after.
Key things to remember
We can only update your details once you have a full UK driving licence.
If you started your policy with a provisional licence, your premium may change when you upgrade to a full one.
Keeping your licence details up to date helps ensure your insurance remains valid.
