How do I use online banking when getting a new policy quote?

This article is for new customers who are purchasing their first policy with Marshmallow.

Updated this week

Why online banking is needed

To buy a new policy with Marshmallow, you’ll need to connect your bank account using online banking. This helps us confirm your payment details quickly and securely, so we can set up your cover without delay.

What if I don’t have online banking?

If you don’t currently use online banking, we won’t be able to set up your policy right now.

To take out cover with Marshmallow, you’ll need to register for online banking with your bank. The good news is that most banks make this process very simple. You can usually:

  • Register online through your bank’s website or mobile app.

  • Call your bank for help setting it up.

  • Visit your local branch if you prefer in-person support.

Once your account is set up, you’ll be able to come back and complete your policy with us.

How to set up online banking with your bank

Every bank has slightly different steps, but it usually involves:

  1. Visit your bank’s website or app – Look for “Register” or “Set up online banking.”

  2. Provide account details – You may need your account number, sort code, or debit card.

  3. Verify your identity – Most banks will text you a code or ask for security questions.

  4. Create login details – Choose a username and password that only you know.

Tip: Many banks also offer mobile apps, which make managing your account and payments much easier.

Next steps once you have online banking

As soon as your online banking is set up, you can restart your application with us. You’ll then be able to connect your account, complete your purchase, and get covered.

If you’d like to try again later, simply log back into your Marshmallow account and follow the prompts to continue where you left off.
