⚠️ Important: Connect your Microsoft mailbox and your login in one click via Microsoft SSO login.
If this is the first time a user in your organization is connecting their emails in Marvin Recruiter, contact a Microsoft administrator in your organization and start with Part 1. Otherwise, go directly to Part 2.
Part 1 : Admin Configuration
Prerequisites: Have access to a Microsoft administrator account for the organization.
🔐 This configuration requires enabling and disabling certain Microsoft security settings. Once completed, the affected accounts will be protected by multi-factor authentication and will be able to generate app passwords, ensuring optimal security.
⚠️ The configurations made in this tutorial may take some time to be applied.
Part 1.1 - Allow App Passwords
1. Go to admin.microsoft.com as an administrator
2. In the left menu, go to "Users" > "Active users"
3. Click on "Multi-factor authentication" — a new tab opens
4. Select the relevant user, then click "Enable"
5. Once multi-factor authentication is enabled, click "Apply"
⚠️ App passwords are authorized for the relevant user(s), but you may need to wait a few minutes for the authorization to take effect.
Part 1.2 : Enable SMTP Protocol for the Organization
1. Go to admin.exchange.microsoft.com as an administrator
2. In the left menu, go to "Settings"
3. Click on "Mail flow", then uncheck "Disable AUTH SMTP for your organization" and click "Save"
Part 1.3 : Disable Default Global Security Settings
1. Go to entra.microsoft.com as an administrator
2. Go to "Overview" then "Properties"
3. Click on "Manage security defaults" (at the bottom of the page), select "Disabled", then click "Save"
Part 2 : User Configuration
Part 2.1 : Generate an App Password
1. Go to myaccount.microsoft.com
2. In the left menu, go to "Security info"
3. Click "Add sign-in method" > "Choose a method" > "App password", then click "Add"
4. Enter the app password name (e.g.: Marvin Recruiter) and click "Next"
5. Copy the displayed password and proceed to the next part
Part 2.2 Connect Your Microsoft Account in Marvin Recruiter
1. Go to app.marvinrecruiter.com
2. In the top right corner, click on your username then on "Configuration"
3. In the left sidebar menu, click on "My account", then on "Connect an Outlook account on Office 365"
4. Enter your first and last name in "Full name", your Outlook address in "User email address", and paste the copied password in "Password"
5. Click "Save" at the bottom right of the page — your mailbox is now configured in Marvin Recruiter
⚠️ Microsoft may take anywhere from a few minutes to 24 hours to process changes made to your account. If the app password does not work immediately, try again the next day.
