Non-Merchandise Marketplace Items are where a Tournament Organizer can really flex their creative muscle as well as their network. These items tend to be the workhorse of many campaigns as they don’t really cost much if anything at all, but are still valuable to a related community.  Some examples include:

Discord Donor Role

This is easily our most common custom item. Almost every organization out there now runs its own discord server so we recommend creating a special role for tournament donors who want to be recognized for their contributions.

To see an example of these, head over to a Playing with Rockets listing like this one to see how they've turned their donor roles into a subscription service.

Sponsor Level Donors

Some larger or longer running events (or a smaller event in the right community) can easily sell sponsor spots in public. For a set amount the event could sell several spots that would include frequent mention during a stream (ie. the SweeBeeps open Sponsored by Matcherino), a place for their logo to be included in a crawl, social media mentions, etc. Obviously this requires higher production standards than some events have, but are strongest with events that are longer running staples of a community.

Possible folks interested: Teams, Casters, Podcasts, Community News Sites, etc

Keep in mind that some sponsorships could lead to other partnership opportunities between the event and other community fixtures!

Pay to  play an hour of <your game> with a prominent caster / community member!

If you have a stream for your event, then you will likely have several casters that you could contact to ask. With tournament splits, you are able to compensate the caster a little bit for their time as well, if needed, but bear in mind overall cost compared to the rest of your rewards. This is usually streamed 3rd party by the caster, but can easily be promoted on social media.

Heroes Hype tends to be well supported by it's bigger names players and casters, and you can see some of the examples of this reward on one of their events.

Pay for Coaching

If you have access to successful coaches within the scene that are willing to help an event, treat this like a caster game. Most backers for this will likely not want it promoted, but coaching from the right community members makes it very valuable.

Pay for Match Casting

Partner with your casters/prominent community members to have backers of this reward be featured in Twitch broadcasts/YouTube videos of their gameplay getting analyzed or shoutcast. Everyone gets a little slice of the hype, and it’s easy to promote the end product.

Community Shout-outs

Pay to have prominent community members to give personalized shout outs in short stream segments / YouTube videos. Work with streamers directly to see how they can add their own personal flair to this to make it more attractive as an incentive.

This could even be farther reaching (ie. “Pay to have a broadcaster record your voicemail recording, etc).

Community Featured Donations

Some communities are full of talented artists who may be willing to partner for your event as an additional place to sell pre-made works or be other outlets for partnership. Please bear in mind that artists like being paid, so be sure to consider what is fair compensation to them as part of your negotiations and pricing. Bear in mind that these rewards may benefit the artist more, and that’s ok!

Some communities may support more involved mini events ie. “Grudge Match Challenges” (where friends can challenge friends to specially streamed bouts),special tournament broadcasts that match the distinct personality a community may have, on stream challenges/hijinks (some community streamers may get involved in some sort of on camera hijinks in support of events), etc.

Heroes United showed had several community based rewards during it's run, and you can see several examples of them here

Other notes:

Be sure we don’t sell content creators short! Depending on the organizer / community, the person in charge should not forget to appropriately set their own split

Don’t forget images! All items that are attached to your event will cycle through our stream widget with their attached image. Try to make it so your viewers don’t have to look at grey presents - be creative!
