Let's say you have a started a live project, but you need to add a new item that requires a selection or decision from your client. In this article, we walk through the steps you'd take to make create this change order, making it easy to get decisions from your client as things change throughout the course of a project.
1. First, we'll need to add the new item. Click on "+ Add item"
2. Type the name of the item
3. Click on "Save"
4. Click on "No, Save Without Approval."
To create a selection item that is within a change order, you will need to use this alternative workflow. But don't worry, we will get it into the change order!
5. If the selection is not already enabled, hover over the item and click the 3-dot menu, then click on "Enable selection."
This may have been done automatically if you have the green selection icon on when adding an item
6. Click on the item to reveal the item details panel, click on "$0" to edit the item's estimated cost
7. Click on "Save."
8. Now, when prompted, click on "Yes, Add to Change Order"
Please note that sending the selection item in a change order does not have the client approve the product, but simply the estimated additional scope of work.
9. Now, you'll want to add a product option in and send that separately to your client for review. First, click on "Add option"
10. Then choose an option you'd like to send over to your client for approval
11. Click on the "Selections" workspace on the left hand bar
Now that you've added this change to the change order and have added an option, you want to go to your selections workspace to send it to your client for their review.
12. Click on "Send"
13. Choose the client, and click "send selections."
14. Click on Awaiting Approval (1)
15. Where you'll see the selection has been sent over and is awaiting approval from your client
16. Now, for this example, we'll approve the selection
17. Now go back to the "Scope"
18. Where you'll see the selection that was approved was added to the change order
