Assignments are a core part of the Magma experience. At their simplest, assignments are collections of problems that you can assign to a student, group, or class. This guide walks you through how to create and customize an assignment step by step.
1. Go to the Assignments Tab
Click on the "New Assignment" button in the top-right corner of the screen.
2. Select Problems
Choose the problems you’d like to include in the assignment. You can filter and select problems by book, chapter, or subchapter. Click on the problem or level to add it to your assignment. Feel free to mix and match from different grades or level of spiceness!
3. Re-ordering Problems
Re-order the problems by clicking on the pencil icon next to the problems picked. You are able to order problems on:
Subchapter
Difficulty
Manually
Random
4. Assign to Students
Decide who will receive the assignment. You can assign it to:
An entire class
Specific groups
Individual students
5. Customize Additional Settings
Allow Answer Checking: Enable this option if you’d like students to view correct answers after submitting an incorrect response.
Quiz Mode: Click this to turn the assignment into a quiz which does not allow students to view answers, exit the quiz, or receive feedback until the quiz ends.
Availability: By default, assignments are available as soon as you create them and remain active until you manually archive them. However, you can schedule specific start and end times for the assignment.
6. Name Your Assignment and Create It
At the top of the page, enter a name for your assignment. This name will be visible to both you and your students in the assignments list.
Once you’ve named it, click "Create" to finalize your assignment.
Need to make changes later? No problem! You can edit, delete, or update the students for an assignment by clicking the three dots next to it in the assignments list.
