When the students have started working on an assignment you shared with them, you can use the Heatmap to see how they are doing. The heatmap is updated in real-time. Therefore, you can easily discover and address the problems the students are having trouble with right when they happen. Here you can see how it works!

1. Click anywhere on the white space of the assignment you want to see the results for.

2. Here, you will see the Heatmap. How much the heatmap will be filled in depends on how much the students have worked with the assignment. The heatmap is constantly updated in real-time when the students work on the assignment.

Green = Correct on the first try
Yellow = Two attempts or more to get the answer right

Red = Wrong answer

Eye = The student has looked at the answer

Grey = solutions haven't been submitted

Number = How many times a student has turned in an answer

  • This gives you a clear view of which students found the problems in the assignment easy (in this example, Erin) and, therefore, might benefit from more challenging problems.

  • You can also see which students had more trouble with the assignment and have to practice more on those problems in the future (for example, Harper).

  • By looking at the results for a specific problem, you can also identify what the entire class needs to practice more on.

  • If you press the button with hat and glasses, the students' names will be hidden

  • Pressing the sort button you can change the order of how the heatmap should be displayed

3. If you click on the problem number box at the top in the Heatmap, you'll see all the students' solutions and answers for that specific problem.

  • Notice how the anonymous mode is still on so that students' names are not revealed, but you can see their results.

  • If you would like to hide the results, click the checkmark icon in the top right corner. Now, all of the results will appear in blue and you will just see student #1...

4. If you click on a student's name in the Heatmap, you'll see every one of that specific student's solutions and answers to all the problems in the assignment.

5. If you click on an individual cell, you can see just the solution for the student. In this example, perhaps we want to look at Erin's solution, for question #4, we just need to find her name and look across the heatmap to her solution.

6. In the bottom right corner, you can playback a student's solution. To the left of the solution, you will notice two icons next to where you can see the correct answer. You can click the pencil icon to solve the problem and the flag is to report an error.
