GeoGebras graphing tools in Magma Math

Some of GeoGebra's graphing tools are now available in Magma. Down below we explain how they work and how to use them!

We have now integrated some of GeoGebra's graphing tools in Magma. All students can now plot points and draw graphs in a set coordinate system in our drawing area! πŸ“ˆπŸ˜„

The graphing tools are currently available in this content:

- The book Geometry and Measurements, chapter The coordinate system, and subchapter Plotting points with rational coordinates.
- The book Algebra and Functions, chapter Linear relationships, and subchapter Graphing linear equations.

Points in coordinate systems:

  • The teacher has to start by handing out an assignment including questions from the book Geometry and Measurements, the chapter Coordinate systems, and the subchapter Plotting rational points.

  • When a student enters the assignment, it now looks like this instead of Magma Math's usual drawing area:

  • If the students choose the arrow in the top left corner, they can move around in the coordinate system.

  • The student plots the point exactly where it should be. It is still possible to move the point once it has been plotted. When they're happy with their solution and want to answer, they click Answer as usual and get direct feedback.

  • If the question asks the student to plot multiple points in the coordinate system, they'll be given the opportunity to, for example, plot 3 points before they can Answer.

Straight lines in coordinate systems:

  • The teacher starts by handing out an assignment including questions from the book Algebra and Functions, the chapter Linear relationships, and the subchapter Graphing linear equations.

  • To draw a straight line in the coordinate system, you must plot two points through which the line goes. It doesn't matter if you plot the points in the wrong place initially, because the points are very easy to move around.

  • When you have plotted one point you can rotate the line to give it the correct slope.

  • The students can also combine the pen feature with the coordinate system.
