What are Whiteheads?: Whiteheads (also referred to as "closed comedones") are essentially clogged skin pores that look like small skin-colored bumps underneath the skin (sometimes with a white tip). When the sebum in these clogged pores is exposed to the oxygen in the air, it oxidizes and become black, which is what we refer to as blackheads or "open comedones".

How to Treat & Prevent Whiteheads: The best way to get rid of whiteheads and keep them at bay is committing to an effective topical skincare routine with ingredients to help unclog pores and prevent them from getting clogged again! The products in the MDacne Customized Acne Treatment Kits contain unique ingredients to unclog skin pores to treat and prevent both whiteheads and blackheads. Using the medications as instructed will result in a significant reduction of whiteheads and blackheads with long-term use.

Additional Treatments:

  • Pimple Patches: For whiteheads that have come to a "head" and look like they're ready to "pop", resist the urge to pop them and instead apply a Single Pimple Master Patch, which keeps blemishes moist to promote faster healing while reducing skin irritation and protect from further infection, damage, and scarring. • Clay Masks: Another excellent way to reduce whiteheads is by applying a clay mask, such as the Clarifying Pink Clay Mask once or twice a week. This clay mask absorbs sebum from enlarged skin oil glands, and thereby, helps unclog the pores, make the skin smoother, reduce the size of pores and reduce the number blackheads and whiteheads. Boosted with plant-based anti-inflammatory ingredients, they can also reduce skin redness and help with active acne. (Subscribers, click here to purchase them right from the shop in your app!)
