Acne on its own is extremely frustrating and can take a serious toll on our confidence! Unfortunately, even after active acne is controlled and cleared with the right skincare products, we're often left with a long-term reminder of the pimples that were once there—acne scars.
There are three main types of post-acne signs: pink spots, brown spots, and real acne scars—also referred to as "ice-pick," "boxcar," or "rolling" scars.
Pink Spots: Post acne pink spots are caused by dilated skin capillaries and will usually fade away on their own within about 2-3 months (once the active acne is controlled).
Brown Spots: Brown spots also typically fade with time. That said, you can fade them more quickly with our Medicated Dark Spot Remover (available here). If you still have active acne, it can be applied on alternating nights with your current night treatment cream.
Real Acne Scars: "Real" acne scars are a bit more complicated to treat—moisturizers and topical creams won't do much for these. That said, there are minimally invasive treatments (micro-needle RF and lasers) that are available in most dermatologists' offices that can help. You can read more about laser treatments here.
