Rosacea, also called acne rosacea, is the most common fair-skinned people after the age of 30. The main symptoms of rosacea are constant face redness combined in more severe cases of rosacea, with acne-like pimples. Younger people may have rosaceous complexion = skin that is constantly red, is sun-sensitive and is more prone than usual to flushing/

At the beginning of the disease, the skin redness comes and goes. With time the redness becomes permanent with red cheeks, forehead, and chin. Unlike regular acne, people with rosacea do not have comedones, and their pimples usually do not appear on the neck and back or chest.

The main cause of rosacea is your familial, genetic tendency. That said, other factors can make rosacea worse. The most common are stress, hot or cold weather, alcohol, hot baths or sauna, spicy food, and hot drinks.

One of the best over the counter topical products for people with rosacea is niacinamide. Niacinamide at the right % (at least 4%), as found to help reduce skin redness and pimples in people with rosacea. As niacinamide enhances the natural skin barrier layer of the skin, it can reduce skin sensitivity, help reduce inflammation, and help fade sun-induced dark spots.

People with more severe rosacea may add to their niacinamide topical treatment other prescription topical oral treatment. Examples are metronidazole or ivermectin gel that fight Demodex, a skin parasite that is believed to more prevalent in people with rosacea or oral antibiotics (minocycline) that can fight  p. acnes bacteria.

Niacinamide 4% in included in your MDacne active moisturizer and in the retinol 0.5% night treatment cream.
