It's normal for your social accounts' authentication to expire sometimes, but understanding the reasons these expirations happen can help your team better manage your authentications to reduce this as much as possible.

Here are most common reasons an Instagram and Facebook account can go into re-authentication:

A password change:

When your account's password is changed this will break the authentication and you will need to re-authenticate the account in Measure Studio.

An admin has removed our access directly in Facebook or Instagram:

In this case, an admin with access to your socials has removed our access directly in Facebook or Instagram, perhaps because they did not recognize us or by accident. In this case you'll need to re-auth and ensure the team is aware of our access going forward.

The access token becomes invalid

The specific error we see in these cases is "invalid_access_token" which is a little vague and can happen for a few reasons, including natural expiration.

According to Meta's docs "long tokens" can expire after "around 60 days". We see them living for more months, or even years in some cases. However, sometimes the token will expire so you'll need to re-auth it.
