Instagram Collabs allow a single post to be shared between multiple accounts—commonly used for influencer partnerships, brand collaborations, or joint campaigns. Here's how they work and what you need to know about how they're tracked in Measure Studio.
Key Definitions
Collab: An Instagram post published from multiple accounts. Both accounts appear as co-authors of the post.
Originator: The account that originally publishes the post and invites others to join as collaborators.
Collaborator: An account that accepts the collab invite from the originator.
How Collabs Appear in Measure Studio
Only originators will have a post and corresponding data available in Measure Studio.
If both the originator and collaborator accounts are connected to Measure Studio, only one version of the post will appear—under the originator’s account.
If the originator’s account is not connected to Measure Studio, the collab post will not appear in the platform, even if a collaborator’s account is connected.
Metric Visibility & Limitations
The metrics for Collab posts are identical across both accounts on Instagram—for example, both the originator and collaborator will see the same number of likes, views, and comments. However, these metrics are all tied to the originator's account in Measure Studio.
In the Instagram App:
Both the originator and collaborator can see:
Views
Reach
Likes
Saves
Shares
Comments
Only the originator can see:
Follower vs. non-follower reach
Reach sources (e.g., Home, Profile, Explore)
Profile visits
Follows
Follower vs. non-follower breakdowns for engagement metrics
In Measure Studio:
Only the originator’s account will show the collab post and its metrics.
Engagement from collab posts does not roll up to the collaborator’s account-level metrics.
