If you're noticing that the average watch time for one of your videos is longer than the video’s actual duration, that’s completely normal—and here’s why.
Rewatches Count Toward Average Watch Time
This metric includes rewatches within a single viewing session. That means if a viewer replays all or part of your video without scrolling away, the total time they spend watching it will exceed the original video length.
For example:
Your video is 5 seconds long.
A viewer watches it 3 times in a row.
That session adds 15 seconds to your total watch time.
So when this behavior happens across multiple viewers, the average watch time can end up being greater than the length of the video.
