A dark post is a paid social media ad that is not published on the advertiser's page or shown to their followers. Instead, it is promoted directly to a specific audience. These ads are typically labeled as sponsored content and appear only in the feeds of the targeted audience.

Please note Measure Studio only supports these ad types (dark posts) on TikTok currently.

Filtering for Dark Posts

To filter for dark posts, first navigate to the 'Posts' tab located in the left-hand navigation menu. Once there, on the far right click on the button with the three lines.

This will open the Advanced Search filters menu. Here, scroll down to find the 'Dark' tab. Within this tab, you can choose your search preference: 'Dark' to locate paid social ads that have never lived organically on an account, 'Not Dark' for organic posts, or 'All posts' to include both.

After making your selection, click 'apply' in the bottom right corner to activate the filters.

With this filter, you can now easily find specific ads without having to sift through both organic and paid posts.

Auto-grouping for Dark Posts

Use auto-grouping to group these ads automatically to track performance, identify trends, or use in your reporting.

Auto-group Dark Posts

To auto-group your dark posts, head to the 'Post Groups' tab. Then, on the far right click on 'New Group'.

A dialog box will appear, prompting you to name your group. After naming your group, click 'Save' to create it.

Now, click on the 'Auto-grouping' tab. Here, you can apply the dark post filter, which will automatically sort your dark or non-dark posts into this folder, making it faster and easier to locate them.
