If you are trying to scan a QR code for an event you are attending using the Med App scanner you may see a black/blank screen. Here are some common solutions to this problem, if your settings are preventing the app accessing the camera.
Why does Med App use an inbuilt scanner?
In short, to optimise accuracy and speed of scanning. Before QR codes were common phones didn't contain their own software to detect codes. Still today they can be slow, buggy or simply don't work
Solution 1 Update Med App to the latest version
Most issues occur from older versions of the software, go to the apple store or google play store for the latest version of the app.
Solution 2 Change phone permissions to allow camera use
If camera access has not been granted access it will stop it from turning on, giving you a blank screen.
Go to Settings > Privacy.
Tap a hardware feature, such as Camera, Bluetooth, Local Network, or Microphone.
The list shows the apps that requested access. You can turn access on or off for any app on the list.
Go the device settings and find Med App or hold the Med App icon and press 'app info'
Make sure camera access is set to allowed
Restart Med App and retry
Solution 3 Use your phones inbuilt QR scanner
If the above did not work, try switching to your phones inbuilt scanner via the native camera application. Most phones now come with an inbuilt phone's scanner.
On your compatible Android phone or tablet, open the built-in camera app.
Point the camera at the QR code.
Tap the banner that appears on your Android phone or tablet.
Follow the instructions on the screen to finish signing in.
Open the Camera app from the Home Screen, Control Center, or Lock Screen.
Select the rear facing camera. Hold your device so that the QR code appears in the viewfinder in the Camera app. Your device recognizes the QR code and shows a notification.
Tap the notification to open the link associated with the QR code.
