How to back up photos & videos on Android

Tips for automatic uploads for MediaMarkt Cloud for Android.

Updated over 2 years ago

In the MediaMarkt Cloud for Android, the "Photos" tab is a list of all photos in your account as well as all photos stored locally on your Android device. They are all visible and sorted by time.

MediaMarkt Cloud can automatically back up local photos and videos to your MediaMarkt Cloud account, where they are safely stored in their original quality and size.

Note: The MediaMarkt Clouds App for Android can be found in the Google Play Store

How do I enable auto backup on Android?

You can turn on automatic photo backup when you install the app, or you can sign in to the app again (if you've been signed out for some reason). Just follow the on-screen instructions during sign-up/installation to enable automatic backup. Also remember to give the app all necessary permissions.

If you are already logged in/have already installed the app, you can activate "Automatic photo backup (WIFI)" in the main menu of the app under Settings:

Backing up for the first time on Android

Backing up your photos for the first time can take a long time, depending on your network speed and the number of photos and videos stored on your phone.

To make the initial backup run faster we recommend the following steps:

  1. Connect your phone to a charger

  2. Connect your phone to a wifi-network

  3. Open MediaMarkt Cloud and enable backup

  4. Leave your phone unlocked (display turned on) with the MediaMarkt Cloud app open

You can observe the backup progress at the bottom of the Photos timeline.
