Post-Op Physiotherapy

If the surgeon clears you for weight bearing straight away, only use the crutches for as long as you have to. Once pain begins to settle try to reduce to one crutch and then no crutches as you feel comfortable.

The below process will help basic swelling management post injury to the Meniscus.

  • Rest – rest your leg when not undertaking strengthening exercises

  • Ice – 3-4 x/day for 15-20 minutes to help reduce swelling (always protect your skin)

  • Compression – wear a compression stocking all of the time

  • Elevation – whenever seated position your leg above hip height if possible
