Note: This applies to macOS users. Windows users do not have to give the same audio permissions for jamie to record the audio of your meetings.

Please also keep in mind that in order for jamie to work on macOS, you need to have an OSX of 13.1 or later.

For jamie to be able to make an audio recording of your meetings, especially in the case when you want to use headphones, certain audio recording permissions have to be given to jamie.

When pressing "Start meeting" for the first time after having downloaded or updated to version 4, macOS users will be asked to provide audio permissions to jamie.

After clicking "Allow access to system audio" a pop-up window from your computer will appear saying "jamie would like to record this computer's screen and audio".

Important: jamie does not make any screen recordings, but rather only records the audio. However, you need to provide this particular permission to jamie for it to be able to make audio recordings.

Please click on "Open System Settings" and provide jamie with the relevant permissions. You will then be asked to restart before being able to record your next meeting.

Note: Some users might not receive Apple's pop-up window saying "jamie would like to record this computer's screen and audio". In this case, please follow the instructions at the end of the article.

What happens when I click "Deny"?

In case you clicked "Deny" when being asked about providing jamie with screen and audio recording permissions, jamie will not be able to record your audio.

This will also result in you being stuck in a loop, where every time you want to start jamie to record and generate notes for your meetings, you will repeatedly be asked to provide system audio permissions and restart jamie.

Important: Once you have clicked "Deny" you will not receive Apple's pop-up window again. You will now have to make manual changes in your settings, as explained in the next section:

How can I manually provide the required permissions?

In case you have previously clicked "Deny" or you didn't see a pop-up window from your computer, you can manually provide jamie with the necessary system audio permissions. For this, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to your System Settings

  2. Open "Privacy & Security"

  3. Head to "Microphone" and allow jamie to access your microphone

  4. Select "Quit & Reopen" in the pop-up window

  5. Go back to "Privacy & Security"

  6. Navigate to "Screen & System Audio Recording" and allow jamie to record your audio

  7. Select "Quit & Reopen" in the pop-up window
