Creating and Sending AI Interviews

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Mega HR’s AI Interviewer allows Megan to conduct structured interviews automatically with candidates.

Each AI interview is powered by an Interview Set, which defines the questions Megan will ask, how responses are evaluated, and any follow-up questions.

Once an Interview Set is created, you can send interviews to candidates either:

• Automatically through stage automations

• Manually by generating an interview link

This flexibility allows AI interviews to fit naturally into your existing hiring workflow.

Step 1: Create an Interview Set

AI Interviews are based on Interview Sets, which define the questions Megan will ask and how candidate responses are evaluated.

To create an Interview Set:

  1. Navigate to AI Interviews

  2. Click Add Interview Set

Name the Interview Set

Enter a name in the Interview Set name field.

Use a clear and descriptive name so your team can easily identify the interview.

Examples:

• SDR Initial Interview

• Customer Success Screening

• Senior Software Engineer Interview

Add Interview Questions

Under Interview Questions, add the questions Megan should ask candidates.

You can either:

• Click Generate Questions to have Mega HR create questions automatically

• Click Add Question to write your own

Each question should focus on a skill, competency, or experience relevant to the role.

Example:

“Tell me about a time you handled a difficult customer situation. What happened and what was the outcome?”

Define the Scoring Criteria

Each question includes a Scoring criteria field.

This tells Megan what to evaluate in the candidate’s response.

Examples include:

• Communication clarity

• Problem solving approach

• Evidence of ownership

• Relevant experience

Clear scoring criteria help Megan generate stronger interview insights.

Add Follow-Up Questions (Optional)

You can click Add Follow-Up to add deeper prompts.

Follow-ups allow Megan to explore the candidate’s response further and create a more natural conversation.

Examples:

“What would you do differently if you faced that situation again?”

“How did you measure success?”

Set Question Weight

Each question includes a Weight value.

This indicates how important the question is when generating interview insights.

Higher weights give that question more influence in the final evaluation.

Save the Interview Set

When your questions are complete, click Save Changes.

Your Interview Set will now be available when creating AI interviews.

Step 2: Send the AI Interview

Once an Interview Set is ready, you can send interviews to candidates in two ways.

Option 1: Send Interviews Automatically

The most common approach is to use stage automations.

When a candidate enters a specific stage in your pipeline, Megan can automatically:

• Send the interview invitation

• Share the AI interview link

• Track completion status

This allows candidates to complete interviews immediately without scheduling coordination.

Option 2: Generate an Interview Link Manually

You can also generate an interview link manually.

To do this:

  1. Open Generate AI Interview Link

  2. Select the Interview Set

  3. Click Generate Link

Mega HR will create a candidate-ready interview link that you can send via email, chat, or your ATS.

The candidate simply opens the link to begin the AI interview.

After the Interview

Once the candidate completes the interview, Mega HR automatically generates insights including:

• Full interview transcript

• Question-by-question response summaries

• Candidate strengths

• Potential concerns

• Overall interview insights

This helps hiring teams quickly understand candidate performance and decide who should move forward.

Best Practices

• Use 4–6 strong questions for the best candidate experience

• Focus on real work examples rather than hypothetical questions

• Use stage automations to keep interviews moving automatically through your pipeline
