Writing the perfect job description can feel tricky. You want to give enough info to make people excited to apply, but there are also a few important details you need to include to get it right. We’ve put together some simple guidelines to help make sure your job posts hit the mark. 🎯
Before we can promote your jobs or let you email candidates, we need to verify some account details and make sure your job posts follow these rules.
Why Do I Need to Follow These Rules?
As your job posting partner, we want to make sure we’re sharing legit jobs that candidates can trust. It’s not just about being ethical—most job boards also require this info from us.
Company Info Requirements
Use your full company name—no abbreviations. 🏢
We need to be able to verify your company with publicly available info. If we can't, we might ask for more details. 🕵️♀️
Your website should match your company name—just like when you set up your Mega account. 🌐
Job Title Requirements
Make sure the job title is clear and simple. For example, use "React Developer" instead of "Coding Genius."
Stick to one job per title, even if you’re hiring multiple people. Use “Accountant” instead of “Accountants.”
No caps or crazy punctuation! Avoid anything that looks spammy like "Hiring NOW!!!"
Location Requirements
City, State, and Country are required. If it’s a remote job, select the Remote option, but still list the head office as the job location. Providing a location makes it easier for job boards to post your listing. 🗺️
If you want to post a job in multiple places, create separate listings for each location. 📍
Job Description Requirements
Include clear details on the role’s duties and requirements. Bonus points if you mention perks and benefits.
Aim for at least 700 characters in your description. 📝
Don’t add alternative ways to apply (like an email or a website)—these will get declined. ❌
Avoid language that could come across as discriminatory, like age references ("college students welcome"), gender pronouns ("he" or "she"), or nationality preferences ("We love Americans!").
Make your description easy to read by using headers, bold text, and bullet points. Don’t overuse links or images, as most job boards won’t support them. 🔎
Avoid copy-pasting from Word or similar programs—this can mess up the formatting on job boards.

Additional Tips
If you repost or refresh your jobs too often, job boards might stop accepting them.
Want your job up for a while? Use paid promotions to boost visibility on job boards.
Posting directly to the job board first? It might be marked as a duplicate if you try to promote it through Mega later.
FAQs
My job post follows all the rules, but it still won’t go live. Why?
We’ve covered the big reasons job boards reject posts, but this list isn’t exhaustive. We’ll always work with you to help get your post out there, and we’ll let you know if we spot any areas for improvement.
How long does it take for jobs to go live?
Once you activate a job, we review it to make sure it’s optimized for exposure. Then, we send it to the job boards—usually within one business day. 🕐
Why isn’t my job showing up on the job boards yet?
It can take up to 24 hours for your job to appear on different job boards. If it’s been longer than that and you haven’t heard from Mega, the job might not meet the job board’s criteria. You can reach out to us and we’ll help you track it down!
