Advanced Creation

1. Using AI Image Generation Services

Other creators use various AI tools that make it easy to achieve the mood and style you want.

We've noted whether each service is paid, free, or partially free.

  • Paid or Partially Paid Services

    • Nijijourney

    • NovelAI

    • PixAI (basic free + paid options)

    • Grok Image Generation (partially paid)

  • Free

    • Nano Banana

Choose based on the image quality and frequency of use you need.

2. Hand-Drawn Images

You can always upload your own drawings or illustrations.

Any original artwork is accepted regardless of format.

3. Images Without Characters

Images without people or characters—such as solid-color backgrounds, patterns, or landscapes—are also allowed.

These work great for conveying the mood of your character.

4. Using Commercially Licensed Images

Images labeled as "Commercial Use Allowed," like those on Unsplash, can be used on Melting.

To help you understand this better, here's a brief overview of CC Licenses (Creative Commons Licenses), one of the most widely used standards worldwide.

What Is a CC License?

A CC license is a set of usage rules where the image creator states, "You can freely use this image
under these conditions," based on a globally recognized standard. It is widely used on platforms such as
YouTube, Wikipedia, and Google Image Search, and is the most common reference for determining whether
an image can be used. In simple terms, it's an international agreement that helps distinguish which
images you can use and which you cannot.

CC0 (Public Domain) - Usable

Example: When it says, "Anyone can use this image however they like!"

  • The copyright holder has released the image for completely free use

  • No attribution required

  • The safest and simplest option

CC BY (Attribution) - Usable with Credit

Example: When it says, "You can use it, but please credit the creator."

  • Free to use as long as you credit the source (creator)

  • Commercial use is allowed

  • When using on Melting, you must include the source in the image upload field

CC BY-NC (Non-Commercial) - Not Usable

Example: When it says, "You may not use this for commercial purposes."
