IMPORTANT: Due to changes in our MailerLite API integration, the tag will only appear in your MailerLite groups once the Automation runs for the first time (i.e - through your own test or when someone signs up for your product).

To set this up, you need to use MemberVault Actions. This tells MemberVault to add your customer to a group in Mailerlite when something happens in MemberVault. This will allow you to send comms such as welcome emails when someone joins your product.

To trigger a welcome email, we need to do 2 things:

Step 1: Set up actions in MemberVault

  1. In MemberVault, click Products on the left-hand menu

  2. Find your course and click the Edit link

3. Scroll down to find the product’s ACTIONS section

4. Click Add Action

  1. For “When this happens”, select “Added to Product”. It may already be selected.

  2. Leave the “How” section as “(any)”

  3. For “Do this…” select “Add a Tag”

  4. For “Name of Tag”, type the name of a group you want them to be added to in Mailerlite when they sign up. Click anywhere on the screen to save changes or click a Save button in any of the other sections. Make the group easy to identify. So something containing your course name is a good idea. Like “[Course name] - Purchased”

And there you have it. From now on, anyone that signs up to that product (be it via a form or by payment), will be added to that group in Mailerlite 🙌

In Mailerlite, you will not see the groups the group will be created automatically once the actions run for the first time (i.e - through your own test or when someone signs up for your product)

If you'd like to check whether or not the group has been created, all you need to do is click Subscribers in the top menu then Groups. Here, you can find all the groups that you've created in MV.

That said, if the group is not present, click Create Group (top right), enter the group name to match the tag added in MemberVault earlier:

Step 2: Create the welcome email in MailerLite that will be automatically sent to new members of your product

  1. Click Automation in the top menu

  2. Click Create workflow (button on the top right)

  3. Enter a Workflow name - something descriptive like [Course Name - Welcome Email]

  4. Select a Workflow trigger of 'When subscriber joins a group' then select the group they’ll be added when they sign up for or buy the product

5. Click the Save button at the bottom of the screen

6. On the left-hand side, a plus icon has now appeared. Click the icon and select Email

7. On the right-hand side of the screen, enter a subject line then click the Design email button

8. You now get to choose a layout/design for your email. If you don't have a template or a previous email to use, click Choose under Drag & drop editor

9. It’s time to add content to your email. If you need inspiration on what to say then swipe the email copy at the end of this lesson.

If you are all sorted on the copy front then here are the 3 things you need in your email:

  1. Your MemberVault URL - so they can visit your site and login

  2. Their Username - this will be their email address, which you already have in Mailchimp. The syntax you need to add this to the email is {$email}

  3. Their Password - again, this will be the same as their email address so use the same syntax again {$email}.

Note: You may also want to add direct links to some key modules or lessons.

To get a module link, click Edit for your Product, click the gear icon for the module as indicated below, copy the One-Click Link and add that to your email.

10. Once your email is done click Done editing on the top right

Tip: Use the Preview and test option at the top to see how your email will look on desktop and mobile.

11. Click the toggle at the top right to turn on the automation
