Paige regularly collects and analyzes millions of data points across the thousands of Google Business Profiles it's managing. The optimization section of Paige is our way of showing you why we think your profile is not ranking higher. To understand what you can do to rank higher on Google Maps, you must complete the items marked as "I Need Your Help" or wait for enough time to go by for "Paige Will Fix This" ones to self-resolve.
Each issue will be clearly marked with either:
“Paige Will Fix This” – Good news! The system is already handling this for you automatically if you have this automation enabled. This will resolve over time as Paige has enough time to meet this requirement. Paige takes action over time instead of all at once to look more organic to Google.
“I Need Your Help” – This area needs your input. Follow the steps provided below to fix it quickly and easily.
Let’s go through each of the possible optimization recommendations below.
Recent Review Frequency
What this means: In the past 3 months, you didn’t get at least four new reviews per month at least once.
Why it matters: Regular reviews help improve your ranking and credibility on Google. A consistent flow of feedback tells Google your business is active and trusted. Our data shows that only reviews received in the past 90 days help with ranking.
I Need Your Help: Use our review request link, Zapier integration, or QR code to ask customers for reviews automatically. This keeps things running smoothly without extra work.
Overall Google Rating
What this means: Your current Google rating is below 4.6.
Why it matters: Higher ratings build trust with potential customers and help you rank higher in local search results. Our data tells us that the optimal Google rating is a 4.9/5.
I Need Your Help: Encourage happy customers to leave reviews, respond to all feedback, and quickly resolve any concerns. Use our automated tools to request reviews quickly.
Total Images
What this means: Your profile has fewer than 12 images uploaded.
Why it matters: Google favors businesses with more high-quality, SEO-optimized images. More images help you stand out and build trust.
Paige Will Fix This: No action is needed. Paige is already handling image uploads to keep your profile fresh and engaging. As you upload images to Paige, Paige will schedule them to be added every few days.
Post Frequency
What this means: You haven’t posted on your Google Business Profile as often as recommended in the past 90 days.
Why it matters: Posting at least once every 5 days helps your profile stay visible and active in search results.
Paige Will Fix This: If you have the automation for posts enabled, this will go away once you've used Paige for at least 90 days.
Number of Q&As
What this means: You don’t yet have at least 12 questions on your Google Business Profile.
Why it matters: The Q&A section helps answer common customer questions—like services offered, pricing, or hours—before they even ask. It builds trust and can improve your visibility in search.
Paige Will Fix This: If you have the automation for Q&As enabled, this will go away once you've used Paige long enough to have asked 12 Q&As based on the frequency settings.
Review Keywords
What this means: Less than 50% of your reviews in the past 90 days included keywords.
Why it matters: Keywords help Google understand what your business does, which improves your chances of showing up in relevant searches. Our data indicates that keywords in reviews are one of the top ranking factors that can help you improve rankings faster.
I Need Your Help: Use our review request tool with "Suggested Reviews" enabled (on by default) to encourage customers to include keywords when they leave a review.
Recent Google Ratings
What this means: Your average review rating in the past 90 days was below 5.0.
Why it matters: A perfect or near-perfect rating builds trust and improves your local ranking. Even a single 1, 2, or 3-star review in the past 90 days can seriously harm your ranking in the short term.
I Need Your Help:
Encourage satisfied customers to leave positive reviews using our review request link, and respond quickly to any negative feedback.
Images
What this means: No new images have been added to your profile in the past 90 days.
Why it matters: Google prefers profiles that have many recent images uploaded. Additionally, Google analyzes every image to see what they're about, and will show you for search results that are related to what's in your images.
I Need Your Help: Upload new images to Paige to keep your profile active and improve visibility. Paige will drip the images to your GBP over time instead of all at once to ensure it looks organic and to reduce long stretches of time where no images are uploaded.
Tasks
What this means: You have content in the My Tasks section of the Dashboard tab that requires your approval before it can be published.
Why it matters: These items may include posts, images, reviews, or other updates that need to be reviewed and approved to go live. If you are not approving content, Paige cannot do its job to help you rank higher. If you don't have time to approve content, you can shut off the approval requirements for each type of content on the Automations tab.
I Need Your Help: Go to the My Tasks section in your dashboard, review any pending content, and approve it when ready. If you're OK with it, shut off approval requirements. 80% of users have Paige on set-and-forget by turning off approval requirements.
Facebook Connection
What this means: Your Facebook page hasn’t been connected yet.
Why it matters: Connecting Facebook allows us to share your Google Business Posts to your Facebook page, which Google sees as a positive ranking signal.
I Need Your Help: Connect your Facebook page so we can sync posts and improve your Google authority.
Instagram Connection
What this means: Your Instagram account hasn’t been connected yet.
Why it matters: Connecting Instagram allows us to share your Google Business Posts to your Instagram page, which Google sees as a positive ranking signal.
I Need Your Help: Connect your Instagram page so we can sync posts and improve your Google authority.
Citations
What this means: You’re not using the Citations Add-On.
Why it matters: Citations help keep your business details consistent across multiple online directories, which improves your search engine rankings. If Google sees that your business information is inconsistent across different directories, they will doubt your business information on Google and rank you lower. Additionally, turning on citations can help rank in AI search results like ChatGPT and Perplexity.
I Need Your Help: Activate the Citations Add-On to sync your business information across the web and improve your local SEO. It only takes 1 click!
Offers
What this means: You don’t currently have an offer listed on your Google Business Profile.
Why it matters: Posting offers helps attract attention, drive action, and improve your visibility on Google. Google loves giving its users value, and if you offer some value to Google's users, they're going to be more likely to show you to more people.
I Need Your Help: Add a special offer through Paige to increase customer engagement and improve your profile performance. You can do this from the My Tasks section of the dashboard tab, or directly on your Google Business Profile if you have already ignored the Create Offer task.
Videos on Google Business Profile
What this means: You haven’t uploaded any new videos to your profile recently.
Why it matters: Videos make your listing more dynamic and help boost your SEO. Simply put, most businesses don't add videos, so by adding videos, you can easily stand out.
I Need Your Help: Turn on automated videos in Paige and make sure your profile is connected. Paige will automatically create videos for your business using the images you've uploaded and will upload them to your Google Business Profile, plus your YouTube Channel, Facebook page, and Instagram profile.
Videos on YouTube
What this means: You’re not regularly uploading videos to your YouTube channel.
Why it matters: YouTube videos increase your business’s visibility and build SEO authority for both your Google Business Profile and website. YouTube videos are hard to make, so your competitors likely aren't bothering. Simply doing more than your competitors can help you rank higher, faster. Videos are a high authority builder for local businesses, so definitely do this if you haven't already.
I Need Your Help: Turn on automated YouTube videos in Paige by going to Automations -> Automate Videos. Make sure you connect your YouTube channel.
