In this article we will show you how you can add a new customer and a new boat to your database.

Overview

Creating new customers and boats in Metarina is a breeze. Simply follow these simple steps to create your first customer profile in Metarina.


Step 1: Navigate to the customer section


As always, we will start at the Dashboard view in Metarina. From here, click on the customer section on the menu on the left side:

Once navigated here, let's select 'Create Customer' to create a new customer profile:


Step 2: Fill out known and relevant information


In this step, we will fill out all known and relevant information about the boater.

❗️The field 'Email' is a required field as Metarina will send automatic emails to the client. Make sure to always ask for the email address of your customers.

The required fields are:

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Email address

  • Select type of customer

In the screenshot below, we highlighted the required fields:

💡 If you add the Billing Information here, Metarina will then be able to automatically add this information to invoices and can therefore speed up your booking process.

Finally choose the type of customer you are about to add to the database and finally press 'Save' to add the customer.

And that's it - you just added a new Customer to your database. 🎉

In case you need to add or update any information in the future, simply navigate to the customer profile and press 'Edit' in the top right corner:


Step 3: Add a boat to the customer profile


In this next step, we will add a boat to the customer profile we just created.

Note that in Metarina all boats are always linked to your customers to keep a clear and structured overview for you to work with.

To start, let's click on the 'Boats' subpage to add the new boat:

Now let's select 'Create Boat' in the top right corner:

Here we proceed exactly like we did with the customer. Let's fill all known and relevant information we have about the boat.

The required fields are:

  • Name

  • Type (Sailing yacht, Catamaran, Motorboat)

  • LOA ('Length Overall') in meters

  • Beam in meters

💡 In case you don't have exact information about the Beam, you can approximate the beam with the following formulas:

  • Sailing yachts: LOA * 0.3 ≈ Beam

  • Catamaran: LOA * 0.5 ≈ Beam

  • Motor yachts: LOA * 0.25 ≈ Beam

In the screenshot below we highlighted the required fields, don't forget to press 'Save' in the end to save your inputs:

Well done - you have just added a new boat to the profile of our new customer! 🎉

In case you need to add or update any information in the future, simply click on the Boat, and then select 'Edit' in the upper right corner:


Step 4: Invite boater to activate his Account


In this last, but very important step, we now want to invite the boater to activate his account.

💡 Once a customer has activated his account, we can request the necessary documents for the Check-in through Metarina, and therefore skip an appointment in the marina's office.

This is crucial to leverage the whole power of Metarina, as the boater can than:

  1. Add all missing information

  2. Provide all necessary documents for the check-in

  3. Request additional amenities

To do that, we just have to select 'Boater Access':

And now we want to invite the boater to activate his account.

Simply press 'Send Invite' to send an automatic email to the customer, enabling him to activate his account.
