When to Use Manual Index Entry

Manual entries are useful in two key scenarios:

  1. Non-AMR-Compatible Meters
Some old meters may not support AMR installation. In these cases, we can still load the meter into the Meter Portal, enabling you to submit manual index readings. This ensures that:

    • All consumption is still attributed to the site

    • Historical meter data is recorded and visible

    • You maintain a complete picture of usage across your meters

  2. Short-Term Device Downtime
If an AMR device goes offline temporarily (e.g. due to communication issues), you can submit a manual index reading to:

    • Maintain alignment with actual on-site values

    • Ensure estimated consumption remains accurate

    • Minimise data gaps in reporting and billing

🔧 How to Enter a Manual Index

  1. Go to Manual Index Entry from your Meter Portal dashboard

  2. Enter the Meter ID of the unit you're updating

  3. Input the Date of Read

  4. Add the Meter Reading in litres — this should reflect the full value shown on the meter face

  5. Click Save

    • Your entry will be processed and reflected in the portal within 24 hours
