How do I access SFTP if this isn’t set up within our company?

Updated over 3 months ago

We provide data exports via SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) rather than email. This allows us to monitor transfer logs, file sizes, and errors more effectively, making the process more reliable and secure.

If your organisation doesn’t currently have SFTP set up, don’t worry — you can still access your files easily using an SFTP client.

Step 1: Choose an SFTP client

You’ll need a piece of software to connect. Common options include:

  • FileZilla (free, Windows/Mac/Linux)

  • WinSCP (free, Windows only)

  • Cyberduck (free, Mac/Windows)

Your IT team may have a preferred tool.

FileZilla is a popular option and straightforward to use.

Step 2: Install the client

Step 3: Connect to our SFTP server

Open your chosen client. We will provide you with the information you need to connect. Once entered into your chosen SFTP client, you’ll be able to pull and access your daily export files.

The details we will provide are:

  • Host: [SFTP server address]

  • Port: [assigned port number]

  • Username: [provided username]

  • Password / Key: [provided password or key file]

Click Connect to log in and access your files.

Step 4: Download your files

Once connected, you’ll see a folder with your export files. Simply drag and drop the files onto your computer to download.

Notes for IT teams

  • If your organisation prefers to manage access centrally, your IT team can configure credentials and permissions for you.
