Connecting Meticulous to WiFi

Three ways to connect your Meticulous to WiFi, and a step-by-step troubleshooting guide.

There are three ways to connect Meticulous to WiFi. Before you start:

  1. Place your Meticulous close to your WiFi router if possible.

  2. Keep the machine at least 10–15 cm away from a wall. Being right up against a wall can interfere with the WiFi signal.

  3. Do not use a “Guest” WiFi network. These networks typically have additional security provisions that prevent devices on the network from seeing and connecting to one another. This will prevent your phone, tablet or computer from connecting with the Meticulous.

Way 1 — On the machine (the most reliable):

Context Menu → WiFi → Connect to a new network

Pick your network from the list and type the password on the circle keyboard. Networks you’ve joined are remembered under Known Wifis.

Way 2 — From the Meticulous App — the comfortable way to enter a long password:

Way 3 — The machine’s own hotspot (works with no home WiFi at all): set WiFi mode to Create standalone wifi and save. Then choose Show connection code and scan the QR code with your phone’s camera — it joins your phone to the machine’s hotspot without typing the password. The hotspot’s name and password are also spelled out under See network details.

WiFi Troubleshooting

If the app is not connecting to the Meticulous, work through this in order — it first establishes whether the problem is the machine’s connection or your phone, then fixes each:

  1. Is the machine online? On the machine, open Context Menu → WiFi: the Status: line should read CONNECTED, and See network details should show an IP row. Not connected? Jump to step 6.

  2. Connect directly from another device. On a laptop — or any device on the same network — find your machine’s IP address and enter it in a web browser. The machine’s page should load:

    If it loads, the machine and your network are fine — the problem is on the app side: steps 3 and 4. If it does not load, it’s the network: steps 5 and 6.

  3. App permissions. The app needs permission to find devices on your network.

    • iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → allow Meticulous.

    • Android: Settings → Apps → Meticulous → Permissions → allow Nearby devices (older Android versions use Location for this).

  4. Network restrictions. Your phone and the machine must be on the same WiFi network — guest networks block the device-to-device traffic the app needs, and a VPN on your phone silently blocks discovery; switch it off while connecting.

  5. Weak signal. Move the machine nearer the router, keep it at least 10–15 cm away from a wall, and out of tight corners.

  6. Reset the connection. Restart your router — power it off for about 30 seconds, then back on. Then start the machine’s side fresh: WiFi → Known Wifis → select the network → delete, then connect again (re-enter the password carefully — mind the caps and symbol layers on the keyboard).

  7. Run Repair WiFi — Context Menu → WiFi → Repair WiFi, the machine’s automated recovery for stuck connections.

  8. Last resort: Factory Reset. A connection error in red text that survives everything above can be cleared by a Factory Reset — but a reset erases your saved profiles and cannot be undone, so please use Context Menu → Report an issue and contact Support first; most problems have a fix that erases nothing.
