Moderation of social content

Moderation is an important component of maintaining the health of your Miappi social wall, especially if you are taking feeds from hashtags. Like it or not, not everyone will be using hashtags in the way you hope or expect and there’s sometimes a risk that content attributed to certain tags is possibly inappropriate, obscene or otherwise offensive. To that end we provide our Moderate Toolkit, a handy set of moderation features that give you 100% control over what the end user sees when they look at your social wall.

So what do you get in your Moderation Toolkit?

Banned keyword filter (Available on the Moderate page)

The Moderate page lets you activate a filter that uses a list of banned words. Any post containing a word from the banned list will be quarantined and will appear on the Moderate page. You can review that list and should you wish you can unhide any posts that you think should be allowed through.

Block user (Available on the Curate page)

Is a certain user hijacking your hashtag? Posting a constant stream of irrelevant cat memes? Drowning out your owned content and other UGC? Don’t sweat it, using the Block User feature you can mute such troublemakers to re-instill your Miappi’s sense of Zen.

On the Curate Page, find a post from your unruly friend and in the top row of that tile which will appear as you hover over it, you’ll see the ban icon. Click that and all posts from this user will be blacklisted and will no longer be appear.

You can always unblock users if you any time you want. You will find blocked users in the Block Users subsection of the Moderate Page.

Hide posts manually (Available on the Curate page)

Toggle the cross or tick icon found on the top of each tile to either hide or show posts. Hidden posts will become greylisted, whilst approved/content set to show will appear as normal.

Disable commenting (Available on the Moderate page)

The Moderate page also lets you turn off commenting on your entire profile, simply toggle yes/no on this setting.

Hide posts on online hub unless shown (Available on the Moderate page)

This means that posts from unapproved feeds or hashtag feeds will by default, be greylisted and not appear on the website version of your social wall. Posts from approved feeds will always appear by default even when this setting is active. For more information on approved feeds see the article on Approved Content Feeds.

Hide posts on display hub unless shown (Available on the Moderate page)

This means that posts from unapproved feeds or hashtag feeds will by default, be greylisted and not appear on the display version of your social wall. Posts from approved feeds will always appear by default even when this setting is active.

Mirror moderation between Website and Display (Available on the Moderate page)

When this setting is active, subsequent curation and moderation of your Website and Display Curate pages will match one another. Changes made when looking at the content view of your Display Curate page will be replicated on the Website Curate page and vice versa.

The Rules Engine (Available on the Moderate page)

If the Moderation Toolkit was a real toolkit, the Rules Engine would be a jackhammer. The Rules Engine helps you take a proactive approach to the moderation of your Social wall. Drawing on results from the post text of each and every piece of content relevant to your Miappi feeds this tool enables you to keep out inappropriate/offensive/irrelevant content and spam. For more info on this feature, check out the article on The Rules Engine.
