The Configuration Manager (available in build 15.6 and above) makes it easier and less error-prone to share configurations around your organization. For example, perhaps you want to pass the data and settings from one computer using an older version of the software to another computer using a newer version.

In order to utilize the configuration manager and share configurations between different machines, a shared drive or server must be in place to store the data for the configurations. If your data is stored on a local file path, it will not be able to be imported to another device.

Configuration settings are saved in the Windows Registry. To migrate or share configurations between different machines, you have three options.

Note all the configuration settings on the first machine and then duplicate them in a new configuration after creating it on the second machine.
Use the Registry Editor to export a .REG file for use when importing to another computer.
Use the new "Configuration Manager" to export the preferred configuration. Transfer it to the other machine and export it there using the same version.

Quick Steps to Connect a New User to Your Data

This method of transferring your preferred configuration requires the different machines to be connected through a shared file path or server to properly duplicate your data. This method is an easy process to set up a workstation with the same configurations and preferences as your other computers.

1. To start, open your Toolbox application and wait for the Splash Screen. Select the Manage Configurations button next to your current configuration.

2. A Manage Application Settings dialog box will appear. Select your desired configuration and select the "Export" button.

3. Save the configuration to your shared drive so that you can see it on your new PC. Once you have saved the file go to your new PC and open your Toolbox application. Once on the Splash Screen select the “Manage Configuration” option.

4. Select the “Import” button and navigate to the shared drive that you saved the configuration file to (the extension will be .mvg).

5. The configuration will now be accessible in Current Configuration List.

The screen "Manage Application Settings" contains two tabs and associated data.

The tab Current Configurations includes those configurations that are currently attached to your current software session. It commonly contains information directly related to each set of libraries you have setup. You may add to this list of configurations, rename any of them, make a copy, delete one, or exported one to another system.
The tab Current Preferences commonly contains information directly related to the various properties found on the Options screen.
