Combining Drawings in Toolbox

Toolbox, as an OEM based on AutoCAD, generally follows the same process for combining drawings as AutoCAD itself. Combining only the 3D and 2D drawings of products created in Toolbox into a singular file is a process which can be accomplished by having a .dwg available for import into another room, then using the XREF/XATTACH command to insert the .dwg into the open space.

Utilize the XREF/XATTACH to insert a drawing.

XREF/XATTACH

Follow these steps:

Enter XATTACH on the command line.

Choose the reference files to be merged.

Enter XREF on the command line.

Hold down the Ctrl key and select multiple files in the current drawing.

Right-click and select the context menu command Bind...

In the dialog, choose Bind to bind the references.

Note: If a title block with attributes is part of the source drawings, use the XREF method. Don't use the option Insert nor the INSERT method. Both solutions will cause the sheet number of the title block of the bound drawing to be changed to the value of the same attribute of the title block sheet number of the main drawing.

It should be known that using this method will combine the 3D drawings, but the 3D products themselves will be unable to be modified and will not be tied to any specific data within Microvellum, as they are merely 3D drawings if using this method. This may be useful if one is attempting to create something purely visual, such as a rendering of a project or room, but will not retain any manufacturing data to be used in the actual processing of parts and products.
