This issue certainly comes up from time to time, and we will work with you and your family members on a plan that you feel will be appropriate for your wedding reception.  In our experience, it is best to confront these issues in advance, and make sure that everyone is “on the same page” with similar expectations.  It is very uncomfortable for a DJ (or anyone) to be stuck between a bride or groom and their mom, both giving different instructions.
